Alexandria, Virginia, is home to about 159,000 people. It’s a city with a history with a vibrant, entrepreneurial, and creative vibe that’s quite unlike any other city near DC. There’s a strong food scene here, with a number of eco-friendly, green-living destinations along with traditional American fare. Virtue Feed and Grain used to be an 1800s feed and grain warehouse. Another fantastic choice for a stellar meal is at Vola’s Dockside Grille, where the fresh seafood, tacos, and cocktails, along with the relaxed atmosphere, help make meals enjoyable. THINGS TO DO:
Alexandria is in the heart of a busy area, making it easy to find things to do. King Street Square is an area of 18th and 19th-century buildings, which are some of the oldest locations in the area. It’s home to a farmer’s market, small shops, and plenty of activities. Often noted as Old Town, the area is a charming place to spend time. Old Town Farmers Market and the Old Town Waterfront are bustling areas of the city, especially on the weekends. The riverfront parks make it easy to simply spend time with friends and family.
